ECD

I knew ECD would be an exciting class,
running a pre-school did not seem like a hard task.
We learned about kids and the way they behaved
setting up the classroom was something that could not be delayed.

As the first day became closer we started to worry,
trying to make sure everything was perfect in a hurry.
Name tags, book bags, and spots on the rug were assigned,
we would walk them to the room in a straight line.

Most seemed happy and excited,
but you could tell a few were frightened.
For the first day the parents were there,
we told them what would happen during pre school so they would be prepared.

Then on Thursday the kids came back,
but one would not leave his mother without a screaming attack.
Mrs.Beiner carried him up the stares as he struggled,
all the high schoolers looked at each other puzzled.

We were not sure what to do
none of us had a clue.
Then parents and a child came up late holding her favorite toy,
Mrs.Beiner had to go so she handed me the boy.

I rocked him back and forth trying to calm him down,
he cried repeating "Mom" until he did not make a sound.
He relaxed and played with out a problem not making a scene,
i hoped this would not turn into a daily routine.

The next few days with them was similar
the boy adjusted and we became familiar.
So far the class has been eventful
but I know it is something very special.

William Paterson University

Immediate Decision Day seems like a tough thing,
Going to the school and not knowing what the day would bring.
William Paterson University was my first Immediate Decision Day,
I wasn't sure if I should do it or just walk away.

My aunt went to college at WPU,
So what I heard about the school wasn't anything new.
I went online and started the application,
All these applications make me want to go on vacation!

I sent in the application and transcript form,
talked to my parents and decided I wouldn't dorm.
Finally the day was near,
I hoped, "You're accepted!" is what i would hear.

We got on the bus and headed to the school,
I was nervous but tried to keep cool.
We got there and I thought of what I would say,
nervous because today was a big day.

I walked in the office and talked to the Mr.Cano,
hoping in the end I wouldn't get a no.
I was in there for a few minutes
and then he had made his final decision.

I was accepted and it felt great,
knowing that I wouldn't have to wait.
It was my first acceptance and I told my parents right away,
Now one college and the worrying is out of the way!

College Applications

College essays and resumes
filling everything out feels like it will take days.
All the information has to be filled in
finishing them early so the fun can begin.

Writing down all my clubs and communtiy service
after sending the applications out I will be nervous.
Montclair, Hartwick, STAC, and Ramapo
were will I choose to go?

College essay is done,
using the common app so I'll only have to fill out one.
Deciding which scholarships to apply to
figuring what i have to do.

Now its time to send the applications in,
let the waiting begin.

Senior Year

Back to work and back to school,
time to close up the pool.
Setting alarms and packing everyones lunches,
meeting up with friends and talking in bunches.

New classes, new teachers
we discussed while sitting in the gym bleachers.
"This year will be a breeze!",
my friends said with ease.

Senior year is not all fun,
the college process has just begun.
Applying for the SATs hoping to do better,
waiting for that acceptance letter.

Juggling school and work can be a pain
while studying and getting everything done, trying to stay sane.
Waking up everymorning and fighting the urge to hit 'snooze'
Senior year is a battle I will not lose.
